Hellooooo and welcome to my February Blog! This month's theme is in collaboration with Grafix Arts! So as well as Eileen's dies, you will see products from Grafix Arts! I loved working with their products so much!
As you can see from the images above, I have created the journal cover and some inserts for the notebooks. The die I used for the journal is the tall journal die which is available over in Eileen's Etsy Shop;

The Shrink sheets (Bloom Flowers)are available on the Grafix Arts website, I have added a link below;

Now for the step-by-step tutorial...
Step 1: I cut out the journal covers using matboard...
Step 2: I coloured quite a few of the flowers on the bloom flower sheet using Acrylic paint pens. I kept the colours along the same theme to match my journal covers that I will be doing...
Step 3: The most fun bit was watching the plastic shrink with the heat gun I used to shrink the flowers down!
Step 4: I used the gel plate and acrylic inks to create these patterned journal covers. I added texture used die cut shapes and a lid to apply paint on to create the circles...
Step 5: I then used the acrylic paint pens to add further texture and shapes to the covers to give it more interest...
Step 6: How fascinating is it to see the original size of the plastic then, check out the size of it once the plastic has been heated! Amazing! I haven't really used shrink plastic until now, but I had loads of fun doing this journal!
Step 7: For the journal inserts I created these notebook covers, this one using the bloom flowers - I am so pleased with how it looks! Further down the blog, you will see that I have added more texture to these covers with the acrylic pens and the Sizzix Effects Liquid Gloss - I love this product, I use it a lot on my projects, as you have probably seen!
Step 8: I used Eileen's Fan Favourite Stamps 666770 to add wording...
Step 9: I used the negative from the die cut, added acrylic paint with a sponge, to create the word 'Journal'. Then highlighted some of the lettering with white pen....
Step 10: The 2nd notebook cover was created using Distress inks and more pen and mixed media texture...
Step 11: I used stencils, to add some splash marks onto the background...
Step 12: I added acrylic paint flowers, flower embellishments and pen to finish the floral ink cover. And finally, as mentioned earlier in the blog, I added white pen and Sizzix Liquid Gloss to the background of the first notebook cover!
I used white and silver twine to secure the notebooks inside the journal....
My journal and inserts are now complete!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope I have inspired you to create a mixed media project!
