Artist at work

Keep calm and paint....

What better way to take your mind off things, than to pick up a paint brush and express yourself in Art! Art is a great Mindfulness activity about learning to be more present and in the moment. I love nothing more than to create if I am feeling stressed or feeling low and it really helps to lift my mood and I feel like I have achieved something at the end of it.

So how did I create these cards I hear you ask?

I used 6x6 greetings cards. I cut some watercolour paper for the backgrounds, which I then embossed using a 'Happy Birthday' embossing folder and the sizzix machine. Once I had embossed all the backgrounds, I then wet all of the background and dropped acrylic inks onto the paper and watched the ink spread. I left to dry.

I then took the 'Artist at work' cat stamper and used the embossing ink pad and pressed down onto the paper. I chose the black embossing powder, as this gives it more of a bold line, and then used the heat tool to heat emboss. To fill in the cat I used metallic watercolour paints, to give the finished piece a bit of sparkle! Once both the background and the cat were dry, I then put the card together.

To finish, I heat embossed the 'Keep calm and paint' writing using the black embossing powder, mounted it onto a colour cardstock background and attached to the card. I added a few sparkly gems to the cards and hey presto....all complete!

Thank you for visiting my post!
